Product Description HYDROCLEAN'S HT-455 EXCESS MORTAR REMOVER is a thixotropic liquid specially formulated for the removal of excess mortar from new brick construction. The product is unique in that it has additional constituents in its formulation that will remove all other construction and storage contaminants leaving the new building with an evenly hued facade that will showcase the substrate's natural color. HT-455 has proven to be a safe masonry cleaner for many of the new colored architectural mortars and bricks being used in construction today. Harsh acidic products can streak and bleach colored mortars and glazed brick. This product is very forgiving, making it safe and popular with both masonry contractors and architects. When used as directed, the product will cut cleaning time drastically over conventional cleaning methods. A major cause of deterioration of masonry is the crystallization of water-soluble salts in the pores of the masonry. When uniformly and sparsely distributed throughout the mass of the masonry, the salts are harmless, but when concentrated near the surface as efflorescence, these salts become the major cause of masonry decay. HYDROCLEAN'S HT-455 EXCESS MORTAR REMOVER can be used as an efflorescence remover. |
How To Use Product Apply in full strength with brush or sprayer. It is not necessary to pre-wet the wall before applying HT-455. For best results apply with calcimine brushes and stainless steel or polyethylene spray equipment. Do not use steel or aluminum pumps or garden sprayers. Allow HT-455 to remain on surface fifteen to thirty minutes, then rinse with high pressure water (3-5 GPM) and 1500-1800 PSI). With some mortars it may be necessary to cut HYDROCLEAN'S HT-455 EXCESS MORTAR REMOVER 1 to 1 with water before applying. Under normal conditions some agitation by hand will be necessary. When cleaning substrates that are bound by a colored mortar, Do Not let the product dry on the surface or there may be a chance of streaking. Caution Take all normal safety precautions to prevent the product or the effluent from being sprayed on vehicles or persons near the work site, even when using only water. Never use HT-455 on limestone or marble. Use extreme caution when using product near limestone or marble. |
Safety HYDROCLEAN'S HT-455 EXCESS MORTAR REMOVER is an industrial strength cleaner. Use rubber gloves and safety glasses. In case of contact with skin flush thoroughly with clear water. In case of eye contact, flush with water, then with mild eye rinse containing sodium bicarbonate. |
Ecology This product is completely biodegradable, creating an effluent which will break down rapidly when washed into the soil. If the product is sprayed onto vegetation, it can be rinsed off with water with no permanent damage. |
Effect On Other Materials The product will not etch glass and special masking is not required. While it will not damage most sound paint surfaces, a small patch test on any surface with which the product is likely to come in contact is recommended. Normal precautions should be taken to prevent the product from being sprayed directly on painted surfaces. It may be reactive with certain types of anodized aluminum. Once again a small patch test should be made. Because HYDROCLEAN'S HT-455 EXCESS MORTAR REMOVER will clean other types of materials, adjacent areas which are not to be cleaned should be covered to prevent "clean spots".
