Product Description This is a semi-viscous liquid which has been formulated specifically for cleaning heavily soiled brick, terra cotta, granite, sandstone or masonry surfaces. It will remove heavy accumulations of dirt, hydro-carbon soils, algae and rust stains and restore the surface being cleaned to its natural beauty. |
How To Use Product Always conduct a small patch test first. HYDROCLEAN'S HT-626 BRICK, GRANITE, SANDSTONE and TERRA COTTA CLEANER is a concentrated, heavy duty cleaner. Many cleaning applications require the product to be cut with cold water. The product has been formulated to accomplish the most difficult cleaning jobs. Certain types of face brick require the product to be cut with up to three parts water. Glazed brick or terra cotta should be tested with the cleaner cut 5 to 1 or with an alkaline cleaner such as HYDROCLEAN'S HT-704, LIMESTONE and MARBLE PRECLEANER. The only way to determine the best mixture is to conduct patch tests on the brick to be cleaned. After rinsing the patches, allow them to dry thoroughly and observe ... A. the cleanliness of the patch and B. any discoloration or whitening of the brick. Whitening indicates the cleaner is too strong and must be cut with water. Apply the product by brush, spray or roller. Start at the bottom of the structure and apply an even coating. After a dwell time of twenty to thirty minutes the product can be rinsed off with a high pressure rinse. Treatment of heavy rust stains may require a second application and an increase in the dwell time of up to thirty minutes. Our experience indicates that best results are obtained if the product is sprayed on about 30 PSI and rinsed with a 5 GPM nozzle at 1500 PSI. |
Caution This cleaner contains a small percentage of Fluoride necessary to clean the silicon oxides in the brick, granite or masonry. So long as it is not left on glass for a prolonged period of time, it should not etch. However, since the possibility of etching glass does exist, particularly soft plate glass, it is our firm recommendation that glass windows and doors be masked. HYDROCLEAN'S HT-626 BRICK, GRANITE, SANDSTONE and TERRA COTTA CLEANER should not be sprayed on very windy days as it could be deposited on unmasked glass. Normal safety precaution should be taken to prevent the effluent or the product from being sprayed on vehicles or persons near the work site. Even when using only water, care must be exercised not to overspray on pedestrians or vehicles. |
Safety This is an industrial strength cleaner and therefore the use of rubber gloves and face shields is mandatory. If the product does contact the skin, flushing with water will remove it. If the product should contact the eyes, flush with water followed by a mild eye rinse containing Sodium Bicarbonate. |
Ecology This product is completely biodegradable. The effluent, if washed into the soil will break down rapidly. If this product is inadvertently sprayed on bushes, trees or plants it should be rinsed off immediately. Rinsing with water or covering will prevent permanent damage to plants, trees or bushes. |
Effect On Other Materials HYDROCLEAN'S HT-626 BRICK, GRANITE, SANDSTONE and TERRA COTTA CLEANER will not damage most sound paint coatings: however, as there are so many different kinds of paint, normal precautions should be taken to preclude the product from being inadvertently sprayed on painted surfaces. If it appears that the product will come into contact with painted trim or other surfaces, a patch test on the surface should be conducted. This product will clean other types of material, therefore if the adjacent area is not going to be cleaned, it should be covered to prevent "clean spots". |
Other Applications There are other applications for HYDROCLEAN'S HT-626 BRICK, GRANITE, SANDSTONE and TERRA COTTA CLEANER. The product will remove rust and other oxides from metallic surfaces such as steel and brass. Hydrochemical Techniques has formulated compounds specifically for these other applications and recommends their use where specific results are required. |
