The Aquia Creek sandstone walls were cleaned of all residual whitewash and carbon based grime. The whitewash was applied to the walls to aid in the hygiene of the building during the Civil War when the Rotunda was used as an infirmary.

The walls were first cleaned with Hydroclean's HT-704X Heavy Duty Limestone & Marble Precleaner. This alkaline product removed both the whitewash and all carbon based contaminants. After rinsing, the walls were neutralized using Hydroclean's HT-907 Limestone & Marble Cleaner & Brightener.
